Included in all the departments are sought-after works of art with provenance from several important private Swedish and International collections, of which Axel Benzler’s collection of extraordinary Russian and Asian objects are the most significant. The classic catalogue includes furniture of  outstanding quality by masters such as David Roentgen, Christian Linning and Nils Petter Stenström, as well as outstanding works of art in porphyry, silver and bronze. One of the absolute highlights in this sale is the watercolour “Pappa, mamma, barn”, executed by Carl Larsson in 1906 and the two wall paintings in trompe l’oeil by Jacob Jordaens which were originally decorating his home in Antwerp. Two additional masterpieces in the Classic catalogue is John Bauer’s magnificent ”Det var en gång en prins, som var ute och red i månskenet” from 1914 and Helene Schjerfbeck’s oil painting “Stam och tallar”.
Within the field of Modern art, this season presents spectacular works of art by international artists. The most remarkable pieces are Lucio Fontana’s gold bracelet “Concetto Spaziale” and Hervé Télémaque’s oil on canvas “Le droit chemin”. The characteristic self-portrait by Marcel Duchamp is included in the modern catalogue, as well as several interesting and colourful paintings by the Swedish artists Ivan Ivarson, Inge Schiöler and Lars Lerin. A magnificent collection of works from different periods by Fernandez Arman is also represented in the sale of modern art, where the original work “Vivaldi” from 1966 is one of the most interesting. The two brass bowls by Josef Hoffmann is on the cover of the catalogue for Modern design, a catalogue which includes several important furniture, design objects and textiles both from Swedish and International designers.
As the leading auction house in Scandinavia for selling Asian objects, Uppsala Auktionskammare is proud to once again present a rich catalogue with objects in porcelain, jade, bronze, textiles and scrolls from prominent collections.
